As a certified childbirth educator, I am able to give prenatal classes in either a private setting, in which the couple decide how and what they would like to learn, or in a group setting with other couples. We will discuss the physical process of labour, signs of labour and when to go to hospital, techniques for coping with the pain of contractions, birth plans, breastfeeding and the role of the couple in pregnancy, labour and onward. This is also an opportunity to talk about any hopes and fears either with myself or with other mothers who are experiencing something similar.
